Why Have I Stopped Losing Weight?

As a lot of you know at the moment, I am trying to lose weight. I have gone down from over 18 stone to just 14 stone, but still have an awful long way to go. At the moment, I am struggling to do anything better than maintaining that weight, so I am taking the time to tell you how you can prevent yourself from being in the same position in the future.

When you first start losing weight it is important to record the number of calories that you eat, and how much exercise you do. There are lots of calculators on the internet that will tell you how many calories you’re burning by doing this exercise, and you should deduct this from your total calories, leaving you your “net” calories for the day. From doing this, you will soon get an idea of how many calories causes you to maintain, and how many cause you to lose.

It is important that you keep this log during the whole of your diet, because as soon as you notice that you’re only managing to maintain your weight, you need to either deduct some calories or, and this is the better option, add some more exercise. This could be anything from just five minutes walking extra per day to adding a whole new day at the gym- but whatever it is, make sure you put it in the log so that you know when it’s beginning to work.

When you lose weight, it becomes harder to lose more just based on the exercise you’re used to, because of the fact that your body burns up fewer calories from doing the same exercise. So, it is important that you add to the exercise that you’re doing as you find that your body is no longer shedding the pounds.
